Is it possible to make something that works for everyone?
With technology becoming one of the easiest ways to communicate with people, it is no wonder that HR want to utilise it for a better employee experience. However, with multi-generational workforces it is important to identify what each employee needs and bringing it all together, rather than taking a ‘one size fits all’ approach.
One of the most integral parts of having any technology platform is making it easy to use; if someone can’t find something quickly and easy then the chances are they will give up trying. It is found that 97% of business customers cite ease of use as the most important quality for mobile apps, so clear, comprehensible design is key. This can be easily done by making sure that all information is in its simplest form but is still effective, and this goes for both navigation and content. It’s also important to make the app accessible across all devices and ensuring they work much the same on all of them.
With apps that can do everything from controlling your heating to online banking, your product needs to stand out and more importantly, be useful. Employee experience technology needs to make living your every-day life easier, and it’s that simple. The easiest way to do this is to include everything within the app, meaning all your products and services available to staff, communications, reports, payslips etc. This not only encourages people to use the platform but makes life simpler for everyone having it all in one accessible place. Search bars and Geo-location makes using the platform even easier than that, and turn the app in to something the user can’t live without. According to Salesforce, 57% of customers are willing to trade their personal data in exchange for customized offers or deals, which fits under this category perfectly. After all, with everything else on the market for so many different niches, you must stand out.
The experience when using the app is the most important thing. With the fast paced world we live in it is increasingly difficult to keep up, so having something that works at your pace is essential. Above all else, your product should reflect your values as a company and work towards enhancing the employee experience for all your staff.
So it is definitely possible to create something for everyone, but in order to do this you have to go back to basics. If you would like to learn more about employee engagement, check out our other blogs.
