Leading the way
The Hapi platform is built on world leading technologies, and based around three basic principles: Ease of Use, App First, and Security. To aid us in complying with these principles, we partnered with two technology organisations - Outsystems and Braze - and have also developed integrations with a number of different platforms, including Microsoft, Google, Aon, videoDoc and many more.
Ease of use
As consumers we're all aware that mobile phones have become the remote control for helping us manage our lives. We not only use them for our main form of communication, we are also beginning to see a drastic shift to mobile e-commerce. This means that many companies have already chosen to make their products and communications mobile first, and employers are starting to follow suit.
Personal Group's partnership with Braze enables us to drive multi-channel messaging via the common mobile platforms (iOS and Android). Just like with Outsystems, Gartner and Forrester rate Braze as a leader in its field, way ahead of many of their competitors.
In today's workforce, many employees work remotely, which often means that they have little or no access to a computer or corporate email address. This is often seen as a huge obstacle to effective and inclusive staff communications. Fortunately, Hapi was developed with this challenge in mind. Nearly every remote worker will have a smartphone as either a work or personal device, which means that Hapi's inbuilt communications capability can really shine.
Our partnership with Braze enables employers to send personalised push notifications and in-app messages to their employees. This not only helps create a communications network for remote staff but can also help drive usage and adoption of the benefits platform.
One of Hapi's core design principles is that development will always be app first. To help us achieve this, Personal Group partnered with Outsystems. We believe that Outsystems is the ideal development platform for three key reasons:
- Outsystems provides faster development than traditional tools & languages, e.g. .Net, PHP and Java
- The platform allows for the same tools to be used to create mobile responsive websites, and native iOS and Android apps
- Outsystems is cloud-based, hosted on Amazon Web Services, providing a robust platform with scalability, security and availability
Two of the leading global research organisations rate Outsystems as a leader in its field. In Q3 2017 Forrester recognised Outsystems as being a Leader in its Forrester Wave™ Low Code Development Platforms review. Additionally, in May 2018 Gartner also recognised Outsystems as a Leader in its Magic Quadrant for App Development Platforms.
Outsystems is an example of a new breed of development platforms emerging in the technology world. Low code development platforms enable programmers to develop solutions much faster than using traditional toolsets. As Outsystems is a code generational tool - which uses flow charts and drag-and-drop tools that generate the underlying code - it is much faster and less prone to bugs than other development platforms. The tool also has a deep understanding of how to generate secure code, so common security mistakes that programmers could make using traditional tools are avoided.
Hapi's third and final core design principle is that of security. Here at Personal Group, we take security very seriously. As a business, we have been PCI compliant and Cyber Essentials Certified since 2014. The Hapi platform itself is PCI DSS Compliant (SAQ-D) and is penetration tested twice a year by alternating third parties. We also perform additional comprehensive monthly web application security scans through an approved scanning vendor.
We apply Randomised Authenticated Encryption using AES-256 in Cipher-Block Chaining Mode with Random Initialization Vector (PKCS7 padding) to secure your data at rest. We then use asymmetric algorithms to encrypt the keys and symmetric encryption when applying those keys to your data. This provides you with state-of-the-art security with minimal effect on performance.
Your passwords are stored hashed using SHA-512, a set of cryptographic hash functions designed by the United States National Security Agency. Hapi does not store cardholder data or sensitive authentication data at any time. Our production and development environments are fully segregated, and Hapi is developed and maintained solely by us.
