How do we reward and recognise our employees at Personal Group?
Here at Personal Group we like to promote our values: We have fun, We walk the walk, We are the best we can be and We run it like we own it. We also like to award those who ‘Work Happy’ and live our values on a daily basis.
For a while we had been celebrating success with our ‘Pick a Star’ awards. Each quarter, employees would be honoured for embracing our values, some would even get a duvet day. It was our team of Benefits Champions who said that although they loved the recognition, people wanted to be able to say thanks ‘in the moment’ for the little things, without having to wait until the end of the quarter.
So we introduced Cheers. Cheers is an instant recognition platform powered by Corporate Rewards. The platform allows colleagues to give instant rewards to colleagues through points- We call them Smilies (see what we did there?). The Smilies are split into different levels so you can say thanks for pretty much anything. If someone helps you fix a spreadsheet or take time out of their day to make sure you hit a deadline, you can reward that person through Cheers.
Each month, Personal Group Employees are allocated with 100 Smilies to give to colleagues. The points can be saved up to then spend in our Rewards Catalogue. These prizes range in value so people can use points on the little things like a coffee at lunch or save them up for a Spa Day.
Thanks to the Benefits Champions, the site was successfully promoted and rolled out to all staff. Even our staff out in the field could access the platform through Smile- our employee benefits platform and app. With 166 activations and 172 awards given in the first month, it is clear that our staff are loving Cheers. There are also plans to expand the catalogue to include the option to donate points to our two charities, The Memusi Foundation and The Henry Allen Trust.
At Personal Group we love to live our values every day, but when it comes to the services we provide we really Walk the Walk. Implementing our Reward and Recognition platform in-house first means that we know the power of instant recognition. When our clients ask for this feature we know that it works and that staff will love receiving these ‘in the moment’ rewards.
