Saving money this festive season

Regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas, it can be the most expensive time of the year. We’ve put together some tips to help you make a bigger bang for your buck this festive season.

Be time wise
Instead of rushing to buy all your presents at once, why not organise who you’ll see first over the Christmas period? If you aren’t going to see some family until early January, try buying their presents in the after Christmas sales, or even better yet, re-gift something that you won’t use that you received this year.

Embrace voucher power
Are you using your employee discounts app to save? Getting started is simple - search ‘hapi’ on the App Store or on Google Play. Once you download the app, enter your employer’s name and to activate, you’ll need your employee number. Enter your details and you’re ready to go! Not only can you use the vouchers to save, you can also use these discounts on top of sales, discount codes or other promotions.

Getting creative
Whatever age you are, most people will always appreciate time and effort you’ve put into making something from scratch. Keep festive gift prices down by batch cooking home made treats or let the kids creative juices flow with some Christmas crafts.

Pre-loved finds
It’s easy to get caught up in all the Christmas hype and ignore the point of giving presents. Consider buying presents second hand off Vinted, eBay or from charity shops - this will not only save you money but will reduce waste and help protect our environment.

Costs can stack up around Christmas but set a budget keeping in mind what you can afford to make the best use of your money.  For more advice on financial wellbeing, check out our articles personalgroup.com/hapi-life/5-steps-to-building-financial-resilience and personalgroup.com/hapi-life/how-to-talk-money-with-your-family
